Description
The blade of the sword has been constructed from high carbon steel using a Maru Lamination. The steel has been thoroughly refined and tempered. The Ha of the blade has an HRC of 58 degrees, the Shinogi an HRC of 45 degrees. This difference in the hardness allows the blade to be flexible as well has extremely hard. The curve of the blade has been created as a result of the different steel used on the Ha and Shinogi. When the blade is quenched the sword is covered with a clay solution, except for the edge of the blade. The blade is then heated and quenched in water drawn from the spring of Longquan. Since the Ha cools much more quickly than the rest of the blade the molecules in the steel expand and force the softer steel to fold back. The blade has been hand polished with multiple grade stones to bring out three distinct tones in the blade. This level of polishing is reserved for experts in the craft. The O-Kissake is well defined with the hamon going all the way through the Boshi. The blade comes razor sharp, full tang and fully functional. The Saya has been constructed from hard wood with a high gloss black lacquer finish. The Kurigata is wooden with a bright copper fitting and a black silk Sage-o. The Koi-guchi has been lined with black bull horn. The Habaki is a one piece brass construction over a copper Seppa. The Tsuba has been constructed from copper with a dragon flying between. The dragon is highly detailed with golden highlights. The Tsuba also features both the Kozuka Hitsu-ana and the Kogai Hitsu-ana. The Tsuba is secured by another copper Seppa. The Fuchi is copper with a partially seen golden dragon. The Tsuka core is wooden with a Ray Skin Same wrap covered by a black Silk Ito. Two copper Menuki are on each side of the Tsuka, molded like dragons. Two bamboo Mekugi secure the tang of the sword in to the Tsuka. The Kashira is a beautiful coiled dragon in golden highlights.
From the forge of Chris Zhou comes another Masterpiece, The Cloud Dragon Katana. Every part of this Katana has been masterfully forged and created with great attention to detail. The blade has been laminated in a Maru style with a clay temper line. The sword come razor sharp and fully functional.
The Katana includes a wooden collectors box, Silk Sword Bag, and Certificate of Authenticity.
